About The Artist

I currently reside in Chattanooga, TN, but grew up in Chicago. I first displayed an interest in the visual arts while in elementary school. Recognizing this creative potential, my parents enrolled me in weekly art classes at the Heritage Art Gallery, with the late Jack Simmerling, renowned for his depictions of historical Chicago architecture.  In 1990 I enrolled in the Fine Arts Department at the State University of New York/Buffalo, graduating with a BFA in Printmaking and subsequently earning an MA in Contemporary Modern Art History in 1997.

With the completion of my MA I opened my first studio, which has provided me with years of creative challenges and accomplishment.  My creative voice has always found inspiration in the world of Realism expression, specifically the old methods employed by the Old Masters, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Titian and other notables.  Much of what I learned about painting in the Indirect Methods, (Fat-Over-Lean) is self taught.

I am an associate exhibiting and award recipient member of Oil Painters of American, with my work having been juried/exhibited in numerous galleries throughout the USA.  My workshop studies have been with Roberta Remy, Deborah Paris and John Yerger and my paintings have been published in American Art Collector magazine in their July/2010 and October/2013 issues.
